As I have got older my eyelids have changed colour. I have what I call 'teabag stained eyelids'. This causes a problem as eye shadows apply to my eyelids a totally different colour to what they are in the pan. I have tried concealers but they just crease on my eyelids and cause whatever colour is on top to crease too. Eye primers do not change the colour of the eyelid, they just give a smooth base to apply the eye shadow. After reading a few blog posts I decided to buy MAC Paint Pot in Painterly as I have read a few bloggers who recommended this as an eye base.
This applies a lot lighter than it looks in the photograph. It is an absolute dream to apply, blends so easily and dries to a perfect finish, so perfect that I can just apply a couple of coats of mascara for a natural eye look. The best thing about this product is that when I apply eye shadow over the top the colour is vibrant and lasts until I remove it. I now use this product as my eye primer all of the time. There are several colours available in the Paint Pot collection and I think my next purchase will be Blackground after seeing this Lisa Eldridge video where she creates the perfect smoky eye using this product.
I purchased my MAC Paint Pot from the MAC counter at my local Debenhams for £14.50
Have you tried MAC Paint Pots?
How do you use yours?
What colours do you recommend?
I love paint pots but mine all have shimmer. I'm really tempted to try this one as it seems like such a good neutral base.

Hi Lucy, it's absolutely perfect as a neutral base, wish I had discovered it sooner :) x
DeleteOh this sounds brilliant Jude. Am tempted to try it as I suffer from creasing a lot too x
ReplyDeleteHi Nic, totally recommend it, my eye make up looks so much better and lasts all day :) xx
DeleteYes I absolutely love this, I also love Blackground. These are my go too bases and I frequently wear them alone as well x
ReplyDeleteHi Charlie, I will be picking up Blackground later this week, I can't wait to have a play with it, I'm hoping to achieve a simple daytime smoky eye with it :) Jude x
DeleteI've never tried this myself, I usually use a bare minerals primer. I'm really tempted by this as a neutral base.
ReplyDeleteHi there, I really recommend this, not only is it a lovely neutral base that looks lovely on it's own, it is the perfect canvas for any eye shadow colour :) Jude x
DeleteI have paint pot in Bare Study which is similar nude shade to painterly but with a shimmer. But I'm also suffering with creasing so may give this a go!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by Lianne, yes it definitely seems to help with the creasing :)
